What Are Elected Officials Saying About I-73
UPDATES
Preliminary Path of I-73 Selected; Final Path TBD Soon
At the I-73 Stakeholders Meeting held at Coastal Carolina University on Thursday, February 24 th, SCDOT officials and the LPA group announced the I-73 study area east of I-95 has been narrowed to a few very specific areas in Marion and Horry counties. Attendees were shown various routes of I-73 that all connect I-95 with SC 22 (Veteran’s Highway). Several routes closely follow Highway 501 but no preferred route was identified. Each of these various alternatives were identified after taking into account a multitude of factors, including environmental impact and the presence of historical landmarks.
Where will I-73 be built? DOT wants to know. This is your opportunity to help select the final path of this critical project. Two public information meetings will be held in March, providing SCDOT and the Federal Highway Administration with an opportunity to gather input from residents and businesses. Two meetings are scheduled:
March 8 th at Dillon High School (1730 Highway 301 North) from 4 -7pm.
March 10 th at Myrtle Beach High School ( 3302 Robert Grissom Parkway) from 4 -7pm.
Your attendance at one or both of these meetings is crucial.
